RULE: 2.70 - MIXED SHIPMENTS MOVING AT PER CONTAINER RATES Eff: 02APR2017

Effective 02APR2017
Filed 02APR2017
Filing Codes I

The provisions of this rule apply only when there is
no specific Tariff Rate covering the commodities which
are combined into a mixed shipment. Prorating is permitted
only if a sworn measurers' weight and/or measurement
certificate is presented.

1. When cargo covered by two or more item numbers is stowed
in one container, the freight charge shall be prorated
for each item number based on its own freight rate and
the percentage of total revenue tons in the container
taken up by the item. Total freight charged will be the
total of all the prorated items.

   EXAMPLE: PERCENTAGE TAKEN FREIGHT
              RATE UP BY ITEM CHARGED

   Item 1 US$6000 10% US$ 600
   Item 2 US$5500 7% US$ 385
   Item 3 US$5000 5% US$ 250
   Item 4 US$4500 78% US$3510

                        Total Freight Charged: US$4745

2. When two or more tariff item numbers are mixed in a
container and one or more of the item(s) is/are subject
to a weight or measurement rate without any per container
rate, the freight charge for the items subject to per
container rate shall be prorated based on its own per
container rate and the percentage of total CBM in the
container taken up by the item. The freight charges for
the items which are subjected to weight or measurement
rate without any per container rate shall be based on
their respective freight rates times the actual weight
or measurement, whichever produces the greater revenue.

   EXAMPLE: PERCENTAGE
                        ACTUAL TAKEN UP FREIGHT
              RATE MEASUREMENT BY ITEM CHARGED

   Item 1 US$1400 10 CBM 40% US$ 560
   Item 2 US$ 90 M/ 10 CBM 40% US$ 900
                100 W (3 KT)
   Item 3 US$ 80 M/ 5 CBM 20% US$ 630
                 90 W (7 KT)
                            Total freight charged: US$2090

   Remarks: Freight charge for Item 3 is US$90 W x 7 KT =
   US$630

3. In the event that total actual tonnage for all commodi-
ties in a container exceeds the inside cubic capacity of
the container, total freight will be reduced by the
excess revenue tons multiplied by the lowest AQ rates of
   any commodities in the container.

Example: If 100% inside cube of an 8'6" = 67 Cbm
                         ACTUAL
