CARGO - As used in this Tariff, the term cargo includes
goods, wares, chattels, and property of every description,
as well as merchandise, freight, mail, vessel's stores and
supplies, articles, matter and materials of any type.
CONTAINER - As used in this Tariff, a container means,
regardless of ownership, any single, rigid, non-disposable,
dry cargo, ventilated, insulated, mechanically refrigerated
or heated, portable liquid of dry tank, flat rack, vehicle
rack, or open top container with or without wheels
(chassis) attached, having a closure (except racks) or
permanently hinged doors, that allows ready access to the
interior of container for loading or unloading of cargo.
All types of containers must have construction, fittings
and fastenings able to withstand, without permanent
distortion, all the stresses that may be applied in the
normal service use of continuous transportation. When the
term "Trailer" is used in this Tariff such term shall be
considered synonymous and interchangeable with the term
"Container."
CONTAINER FREIGHT STATION ("CFS") - A Container Freight
Station is the terminal facilities maintained by Arrowpac
where breakbulk or packaged cargo is delivered for loading
into/onto Containers and the where containers are unloaded
and stripped by Arrowpac and breakbulk or packaged cargo is
made available for delivery pickup.
DEMURRAGE - Demurrage is the charge assessed against the
cargo remaining in or on Arowpac's CFS Terminal after the
expiration of free time.
FREE TIME - Free Time is the specified period of time
during which cargo may occupy space assigned to it at
Arrowpac's CFS, free of demurrage charges, after discharge
of such cargo into/onto terminal facilities.
HEAVY LIFT CARGO - Any individual piece, package or unit
weighing over 6000 pounds or more shall be classified as
Heavy Lift Cargo. Any and all charges for extra
forklift(s), additional manpower, and/or drayage to another
firm which are incurred during Arrowpac's CFS handling of
Heavy Lift Cargo shall be for the account of the cargo.
HOLIDAYS - Holidays are any legal holiday proclaimed by any
State or National authority or as designated by applicable
collective bargaining agreement. When a holiday falls on a
Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as the
holiday.
HOUSEHOLD GOODS - The term Household Goods includes
personal belongings and household furnishings, which are
shipped in specially constructed vans. Vans must be
constructed to permit free access of fork lift blades and
so as to provide a balanced load when lifted by a 3 (three)
ton fork lift.
PACKAGE - The term package includes pieces, unpackaged
freights units and all articles of any description, except
goods which are shipped in bulk.
PRE-UNITIZED AND PALLETIZED CARGO - All packages mounted on
a prepared platform in such a way as to form a single unit
which may be handled at Arrowpac's CFS by a 3 (three) ton
fork lift shall be classified as Palletized Cargo. All
packages strapped together in such a way as to form a
single unit shall be classified as Pre-Unitized Cargo.
Arrowpac requires that all platforms be made of wood,
plastic, paper or metal which rest on, and are fastened to,
runners of steel or wood, with openings wide enough to
permit free access of fork lift blades and so spaced as to
provide a balanced load when lifted. The total dimensions
of a palletized or pre-unitized cargo unit shall not exceed
48 inches in width, 120 inches in length and/or 84 inches
in height.
SKIDDED CARGO - All boxes, cases and/or cartons to which
runners of steel or wood have been positioned in such a way
as to permit free access of blades of a 3 (three) ton fork
lift, and which provides a balanced load when lifted shall
be classified as Skidded Cargo. The total dimensions of a
Skidded Cargo unit shall not exceed 48 inches in width, 120
inches in length and/or 84 inches in height.
