Rates named in this Tariff apply via a specific transit
transportation mode which may be shown in connection with
each rate. If no Transit Mode Code is listed within an
individual TLI, the rate named therein will apply via any
of the Transit Modes listed below, unless additional rates
within the TLI are established to apply via a specific
Transit Mode. When multiple applicable rates are listed
within a single TLI based on a different transit
transportation mode, the application of each rate level
will be at Shipper's option. A full description of each
transit transportation mode offered is listed below.
TRANSIT MODE CODES & DESCRIPTIONS:
Shipments moving on rates SBJ to one of the specific
Transit Modes named below will apply ONLY at Shipper's
option SBJ the provisions herein:
a. When different rates applying on the same commodity,
from the same ports/points to the same ports/points are
published in this Tariff and the application of each rate
is based on different Transit Mode levels, selection of
Transit Mode and the related rate level will be strictly
at the Shipper's option. If Shipper desires a specific
Transit Mode he MUST notify the Carrier which Transit
Mode is to be used at time of booking, either orally or
in writing, unless such instructions have been given
previously. If no written instructions are forwarded by
the Shipper to the Carrier, Carrier's booking records
shall govern assignment of Transit Mode level and
application of rate. If Shipper does NOT specify a
specific Transit Mode, Carrier will forward shipments
and assess freight charges based on rates applicable to
the actual Transit Mode utilized.
b. Shipper's selection of a Transit Mode option shall be
considered paramount and Carrier will NOT alter Shipper's
instructions or the Transit Mode/rate level selected,
EXCEPT if Carrier forwards a shipment via a different
Transit Mode in error, Shipper shall be assessed freight
charges based on the Transit Mode level Shipper actually
selected or the freight charges applicable to the Transit
Mode actually provided, whichever is lower.
c. DEFINITION OF UNDERLYING VOCC TRANSIT MODE LEVELS:
1. "AWS" or "ALW" " ALL WATER SERVICE: Rates referenced
"All Water Service" will apply ONLY when Carrier
utilizes underlying Ocean Carriers who provide the
origin POL to destination POD portion of the through
transportation service entirely by ship without any
intervening overland carriage or non-water
transportation.
2. "IPI" " INTERIOR POINT INTERMODAL SERVICE (a/k/a
MICRO-BRIDGE SERVICE): Rates referenced "Interior Point
Intermodal Service" will apply when Carrier utilizes
underlying Ocean Carriers to provide a combined, through
overland/ocean transport service, on a through
intermodal B/L, to or from an inland point with a prior
or subsequent movement by ship from POL or to POD.
Carrier shall be responsible for transferring cargo at
interchange port between the inland Carrier and the
Ocean Carrier's vessel.
3. "MLB" " MINI-LANDBRIDGE SERVICE: Rates referenced
"Mini-Landbridge Service" will apply when Carrier
utilizes underlying Ocean Carriers to provide the POL
to POD through transportation service, on a through
intermodal B/L, partially by ship with a partial prior
or subsequent transcontinental movement via an overland
carrier. Carrier shall be responsible for transferring
cargo at interchange port between the inland Carrier
and the Ocean Carrier's vessel.
4. "RIPI" " REVERSE INTERIOR POINT INTERMODAL SERVICE
(a/k/a REVERSE MICRO-BRIDGE SERVICE): Rates referenced
"Reverse Interior Point Intermodal Service" will apply
when Carrier utilizes underlying Ocean Carriers to
provide a combined through overland/ocean transport
service, on a through B/L, to or from an inland point
with a prior or subsequent movement by ship from POL to
POD. Carrier shall be responsible for transferring
cargo at interchange port between the inland Carrier
and the Ocean Carrier's vessel. "Reverse" indicates
that the ship will pass the longitude of the inland
point in order to reach the POL or POD.
d. DEFINITION OF CARRIER'S TRANSIT MODE LEVELS: Except as
{C}otherwise specifically provided, when a dual service
is listed below, such reference indicates only that both types
of inland mode services are utilized. For instance "MB"
(Motor/Barge) applies either when Motor service is provided
first followed by a Barge service, or when Barge service is
provided first followed by a Motor service.
1. "AS" "AIR SERVICE": Rates referenced "Air Service" will
apply when Carrier provides a portion of a through
intermodal movement from or to an airport facility
utilizing ONLY the services of an underlying Air Carrier
between the POL or POD and the airport facility.
2. "B" or "BG" "BARGE INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced "Barge
Service" will apply when Carrier provides the inland
portion of a through intermodal movement from or to an
interior point utilizing ONLY the services of an
underlying Barge Operator between the POL or POD and
the interior point.
3. "F" or "FV" "FEEDER VESSEL SERVICE": Rates referenced "Feeder
Vessel Service" will apply when Carrier provides part of
the through transportation service from POL or to POD
utilizing the services of a Feeder Vessel between POL or
POD and an interchange port.
4. "MA" "MOTOR AND AIR SERVICE": Rates referenced "Motor
and Air Service" will apply when Carrier provides a
portion of a through intermodal movement from or to an
interior point utilizing the services of BOTH an
underlying Motor Carrier AND an underlying Air Carrier
between POL or POD and the interior point.
5. "MB" "MOTOR AND BARGE INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced
"Motor and Barge Inland Service" will apply when Carrier
provides the inland portion of a through intermodal
movement from or to an interior point utilizing the
services of BOTH an underlying Motor Carrier AND an
underlying Barge Operator between POL or POD and the
interior point.
6. "MF" "MOTOR AND FEEDER VESSEL SERVICE": Rates referenced
"Motor and Feeder Vessel Service" will apply when
Carrier provides the inland portion of a through
intermodal movement from or to an interior point
utilizing the services of BOTH an underlying Motor
Carrier between the interior point and the POL or POD
AND an underlying Feeder Vessel Operator between POL or
POD and an interchange port.

7. "MR" "MOTOR THEN RAIL INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced
"Motor Then Rail Inland Service" will apply when Carrier
provides the inland portion of a through intermodal
movement from an interior point utilizing the services of
FIRST an underlying Motor Carrier AND THEN an underlying Rail
Carrier between the interior point and the POL.
8. "M" or "MT" "ALL MOTOR INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced
"All Motor Inland Service" will apply when Carrier provides
the inland portion of a through intermodal movement from
or to an interior point utilizing ONLY the services of
an underlying Motor Carrier between POL or POD and the
interior point.
9. "RB" "RAIL AND BARGE INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced
"Rail and Barge Inland Service" will apply when Carrier
provides the inland portion of a through intermodal
movement from or to an interior point utilizing the
services of BOTH an underlying Rail AND an underlying
Barge Operator between POL or POD and the interior
point.
10."R" or "RC" "RAIL INLAND SERVICE": Rates referenced "Rail
Inland Service" will apply when Carrier provides the
inland portion of a through intermodal movement from or
to an interior point utilizing ONLY the services of an
underlying Rail Carrier between POL or POD and the
interior point.
11. "RF" "RAIL AND FEEDER VESSEL SERVICE": Rates referenced
"Rail and Feeder Vessel Service" will apply when Carrier
provides the inland portion of a through intermodal
movement from or to an interior point utilizing the
services of BOTH an underlying Rail Carrier between the
interior point and the POL or POD AND an underlying
Feeder Vessel Operator between POL or POD and an
interchange port.

"Rail Then Motor Inland Service" will apply when Carrier
provides the inland portion of a through intermodal
movement to an interior point utilizing the services of
FIRST an underlying Rail Carrier AND THEN an underlying Motor
Carrier between the POD and the interior point.
