Carrier is now required to comply with the requirements of the
International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), as
amended in Chapter VI, Part A, Regulation 2, which requires Shippers
to provide the Verified Gross Mass (weight) of every loaded Container
that is tendered to an underlying Vessel Operator prior to loading of
the Container on board Ship. Therefore, except as otherwise provided
on individual Web Rate Pages (TLIs), all LCL, Break Bulk, Palletized
or Loose Cargo which is tendered to Carrier to be loaded into a
Container, or all FCL Container shipments tendered to Carrier, for
movement From, To or Thru the Ports and Points named below will be SBJ
to the CARGO GROSS MASS VERIFICATION CHARGE (VGM) named below, which
charges shall be in addition to all other applicable charges.
1. ON LCL SHIPMENTS:
a. At a Carrier designated Origin Container Freight Station, Warehouse
or Terminal, Carrier will both measure and weigh each piece,
package or unit of cargo presented for transportation. Regardless
of Shipper's declaration of cargo dimensions, cubic volume and/or
weight, any Carrier ascertained dimensions, volume and/or weight
shall be deemed paramount and will be used to calculate the charges
named in this Rule.
b. Carrier will assess the VGM charges named below on all
non-containerized cargo which is containerized for transportation
by Carrier:

2. ON FCL SHIPMENTS:
a. When Carrier is requested or required to obtain or verify the VGM on
behalf of a Shipper of a Full Container Shipment, Carrier will
arrange to have the Container weighed at a certified scale facility
on Shipper's behalf and will advance all charges for such service
SBJ to the provision of Rule 2.11, which charge shall be in addition
to all other applicable charges.
b. If Shipper does provide the required VGM documentation but requests
or requires Carrier to submit or transmit such VGM documentation to
the underlying VOCC, Carrier will assess the administration handling
fee named below, which charge shall be in addition all other
applicable charges (See Note 1).
