THE FOLLOWING SYMBOLS, CODES AND ABBREVIATION CODES ARE
DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

     "A"       as CHANGE SYMBOL means an Increase
     "AC"      means Artificial Atmosphere Control Container/Trailer
                and/or Service
     "ACS"     means any applicable Alameda Corridor Surcharge named in
                or SBJ to Rule 10.88
     "AQ"      means Any Quantity (of Cargo)
     
     "BAF"     means any Bunker Surcharge named in or SBJ to Rule 10.1
     "B/L"     means Bill of Lading
     "BS"      means Bottom Stowage
     
     "C"       As CHANGE SYMBOL means Change in Tariff provision that
                results in neither an Increase nor a Reduction in charges
     "CAF"     means any Currency Adjustment Factor (Surcharge)
                named in or SBJ to Rule 10.2
     "CB"      means a Customs Broker
     "CBM"     means Cubic Meter
     "CFS"     means Container Freight Station
     "CFT"     means Cubic Foot
     "CLD"     means Chilled Cargo Service
     "C.O.D."  means Collect On Delivery

     "CUC"     means any applicable Chassis Usage Charge named in

     "CY"      means Container Yard
     
     "D"       means Door Transportation Service (See Rule 2.1 - Origin
                or Destination Service statements)
     "DF"      means Drop Frame Container/Trailer
     "DOCF"    means any applicable Documentation Charges named in or
                SBJ to Rule 2.8
     
     "E"       as CHANGE SYMBOL means Expiration
     "E-BAF"   means any applicable Emergency Bunker Factor/Surcharge
                named in or SBJ to Rule 10.12
     "E-FAF"   means any applicable Emergency Fuel Factor/Surcharge
                named in or SBJ to Rule 10.12
     "EUR"     means Euro
      
     "FB"      means Flat Bed Container/Trailer
     "FCL"     means Full-Container Load
